BPI problem on BSR1000

Postby janog » Tue Aug 19, 2008 9:29 am

I have a problem with our BSR1000 which have been working great for 3-4 years now.

After a power failure last week I have some cable modems coming online, but no data are sent through.
The status for the modem on the BSR1000 reads "online(un)".

Manual says:
online(un):
CM registered, but not enabled data. Fail to
verify modem’s identity by BPI module.

Has anybody seen this problem on the BSR? And hopefully has a solution?

Nothing has changed since before the power failure, and the config files are the same.

Thanks,

You need to check the clock and setup an NTP server. The CMTS's time needs to be correct. If the clock is running at a date before the BPI cert was issued it will fail. Once you check this let us know if the problem still is happening.

Thanks for the quick response Slimjim100,

We allready have an ntp server which the cmts is syncing against every 1024 sec.
The cm receives the TOD from another server, ut this is again synced against the same ntp as the cmts.

So the cmts and the cm/bpi should have the same time.
I also checked, and they do :)

Here is the error-message in the log from the cm:
Date/Time Event ID Event Level Description
08/20/2008 07.44 66030102 05 Auth Reject - No Information

What else could be wrong in my setup?

Not suggesting this is your issue but I have seen online(un) issues when TLV 17 BPI parameters set within the DOCSIS file but BPI is disabled in the class of service. If your provising files have not changed what privacy settings does the BSR have configured?
